Soft foams
There are several types of soft foam such as polyether, polyester, polyethylene, neopolene, polypress and polyurethane. All of these soft foams have distinctive characteristics, resulting in the most suitable type of foam being used for each type of protective packaging. Polyurethane foam is extremely appropriate for packaging extremely shock-sensitive hardware. The costs for tools are comparatively low because the mould is made from wood. Antistatic foil can be used, making polyurethane foam very suitable for packaging electronics.
Polyether usually used for representative packaging.
Polyester is extremely appropriate for packaging sensitive industrial equipment
Neopoleen is used to ensure equipment is blocked
in “scratch free”.
Polypress is used as supporting blocks in packaging heavier products (stuffing of cases).
For special applications we also have (electrostatic discharge) ESD-proof and antistatic soft foams at our disposal.
The aforementioned packaging materials are moulded into a single packaging using a variety of production methods such as: cutting, sawing, punching, thermal connecting, 3D form cutting, high-pressure water cutting and gluing. Because Van der Heijden Nederland has such modern and diverse machinery at its disposal, there is almost no limit to manufacturing the most diverse forms of soft-foam packaging.
The visual aspect of your product also gets the attention it deserves (e.g., display) due to the full range of colours being available in soft foams. Furthermore, it is also possible to print on soft foam (e.g., the logo of your company). |
